From Border-collie bulletin:

Out of the dry dusty conditions of the Australian outback, we introduce third generation stockman and working dog trainer, Mick Hudson. In three sheep trials, Mick is currently one of the men to beat in Australia:

  • Twice NSW Sheep Dog Workers Inc. Handler & Dog of the year
  • Commonwealth Open Sheepdog Trial Champion Supreme Australian Champion National Open Sheepdog Champion
  • Commonwealth Trans Tasman Champion
  • Winner of the Ted Gaby Interstate Challenge (Mick Hudson & Bill Davidson)

Mick's training session in this program demonstrates the extremes of heat, dust and burrs which his dogs experience on a daily basis. The handling of massive flocks in this harsh environment is a challenge for any working dog. Without doubt, Mick’s Border Collies are some of the hardiest anywhere in the world.

"The national sheep dog trials in Canberra has been won for the first time by Mick Hudson who operates Rosevale Station one hundred kilometres south east of Cobar. The forty two year old who also has a white Dorper stud near Dubbo triumphed over some more fancied opponents at the championships staged over several days at the Hall showgrounds which is a small village on the ACT/New South Wales border. Mr Hudson told Michael Cavanagh - he only got back into competition several years ago after first taking part as a teenager..."
